Jeremy Sons turned himself into authorities yesterday, just days before his former step father, Bruce Sons, third trial for the murder of highway patrol office Richard Maxwell. I guess the two an a half month long manhunt covering two states put a little pressure on the guy. The CHP were so concerned about catching Jeremy that they helped raise ten grand in reward money.
I realize I am not a D.A., and I guess they need him to get a piece of evidence that they need in, but I just don’t get how Jeremy is going to be of any good to them. He spent 10 years in jail himself for the murder of Maxwell, I really don’t see him rolling over for the D.A's office now. There’s a picture of him in the paper today at his first trial and he looks like a little boy.
I think it’s a little strange how insistent they are that Sons MURDERED Maxwell IN THE FIRST DEGREE. How is that possible, when the exchange began when Maxwell pulled Sons over? Then there’s the tiny, little fib they told during the first trial that Maxwell was a stellar officer with a shining record. Sure, if you call having someone turn beet red, eyes popping, veins bulging, screaming in your face ‘stellar’ I guess I would understand. It seems to me the D.A.’s office is SO determined to NOT be proven wrong this time they’ll do anything to prove he did it.
And given their past track record, I’d say they may be just about ready to prove it again.
