They should be called Scummers

A few days ago a friend of mine sent me a link to a post on The Smoking Gun. It was talking about how a woman in Bakersfield had filed a suit against a local radio station over an April Fool’s Day joke they played on her. Today there’s an article about it in the paper. Apparently the woman thought she had won a Hummer but when she went to pick it up she was given a toy Hummer instead. Clearly this woman is completely lacking a sense of humor.

Three months ago a couple of DJ’s working for the station KBDS (which I have never heard of, and just found out is actually in Taft) who called themselves Chuey Boy and Dirty Sanchez, say the promoted a contest to win a “model Hummer.” Shannon Castillo (and another woman) didn’t hear it that way. I find it interesting that, according to the paper, Castillo was first shocked, and then mad, when she realized she had been fooled. If you look at the pictures on the radio station's web site, you can clearly see that they are all laughing. Apparently she didn’t get mad till much later. The suit was filed in June.

I love her reasoning for believing she really deserves a Hummer, or $60,000, the price of one. (I can’t help but gag over that. Why do people drive those things? I hate them.) Castillo is quoted in the paper as saying, “I had no reason not to believe them because in Los Angeles, when they say they are giving out a car, they’re giving out a car.”

Maybe so lady, but you’re in Taft.
