Controversies

There has been a lot of trash talking going on around town lately between writers and bloggers and what not lately. I've kept my mouth shut so far because I don't like to get in the middle of a mess like that. I will say that I'm sorry to see Black Dog gone.

The thing I don't get is why some people get so agro over The Bakersfield Californian. They seem to think they have too much power, and can't be trusted, blah, blah, blah. Whatever. I think we actually have a pretty good paper. Sure, I make fun of it from time to time, and I do think they feature too much local news on the front page, but then again what do I know? Of course they sometimes make mistakes. Who doesn't? They do always seem to recommend readers vote for all Republicans around election time, but that could because of the demographics. Overall I think it's pretty solid. It's one of the only family owned newspapers left and I think that's cool.

I also think its cool that a group of local people wanted to create an alternative paper now that The Blackboard is gone. (Sad, but true.) I think it's unfortunate that the whole idea has been scrapped now because all the mudslinging. And I hope that in the future we can all come toghether and make cupcakes.

I also think it is interesting that the local DA feels so persecuted by the paper that he has started his own website and that the first article is titled "Every Lie They Print." Maybe if he wasn't such a creepy a-hole they'd leave him alone.

I just can't understand why nobody will run against him. Hmmmm.....
