Earl Warren

I found this picture today. It's the Kern County High School class of 1908 and one of those boys is the future Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

The picture got me to thinking about good ol' Earl, so I did some research and found this copy of his obit. I was surprised to learn his father was murdered in Bakersfield and the case was never solved. I was also surprised to learn that President Eisenhower called his appointment "the biggest damn-fool mistake I ever made."

It's interesting how history changes perception.
