The Blue Bin of the Future

Dreams really do come true. No, I’m not talking about me and Oscar. I’m talking about the fact that the city finally took the first steps to get off its lazy ass and make curbside recycling mandatory. Oooo… what do ya know? Bakersfield finally entered the 21st century.

Of course there are a lot of people out there complaining about the new plan - especially the people who already recycle and resent having to pay for the bin. The thing they are not taking into account is all the material they do not cash in on but that can still be recycled. Most people just take aluminum and plastic bottles in for money. They can still do that!!! But now instead of putting all that worthless paper and glass into the land fill, it too can be recycled.

We are one of the few counties in the state that still does not have mandatory recycling. It is going to happen whether we like it or not. Bitching about it is like complaining over those new fangled computers. Dag nab it!

Get with it. Recycling is the future.
