Update.

I’m not even going to apologize for not posting lately. Poop happens. Deal with it.

But, in case you’re wondering… everything is great with Oscar and me. We’re in the process of buying a new house and we’ll soon be moving into another area downtown. Actually, it’s an old house, but it’ll be new to us. We’re very excited about that. And that is enough about me.

What’s going on you ask? A whole lotta the same.

The Kern High School District voted 4 to 1 in favor of passing the proposal to place “In God We Trust” posters in every classroom. The posters will say some other stuff too, about the Constitution and crap. Apparently the board thinks that by placing these posters in every high school classroom every teenager in town is suddenly going to become civic minded, up standing citizens.

I think they’re blowing $12,000 on a bunch of posters that are going to be covered in graffiti within a few weeks.

A man was shot and killed last Monday while trying to break into a home in Rosedale. Ulises Espino and Alberto Torres apparently broke into the home with the intent to burn it down. Unfortunately for them, the owner was home. And he had a loaded shotgun he wasn’t afraid to use. Ulises and Alberto took off after being shot at but pulled over a short time later to call for help. Ulises died the next day at KMC and Alberto was arrested.

After doing a little research I discovered that the owner of the home, Steven Stewart, isn’t exactly a stranger to the law himself. In fact, he’s been arrested 28 times over the past 20 years. I don’t know about you, but that seems like kind of a lot to me. Most of the cases have been archived, but several of them indicated he was accused of stalking, carrying a concealed weapon, battery, false imprisonment, and inflicting corporal punishment.

Sounds like a fun guy to be with, huh?
