Waste Not Want Not

I’m not sure why people in this town are so against the environment. Since they started offering voluntary recycling less than 4 percent of the population has signed up.  People don’t want to pay to recycle.  According to the paper, “Bakersfield is one of the last cities of its size on the West Coast that doesn’t have routine curbside recycling.”  It appears we’ve found a very effective way of hanging onto that small ‘hick town’ vibe.

Now the city is considering getting rid of the recycling program all together.  Cuz ya know, if we can’t recycle everything why bother recycling anything at all.

Kind reminds me of my attitude in high school.
