Today’s Californian had an article about the Buena Vista Lake Shrew. Federal officials have identified 4,649 acres of land as critical habitat for the dozens of tiny mouse-like creatures that are still left. Seems like an awful lot of land to me – so I started doing some research and I found a delightful little article about Kern County titled “The Naming of the Shrew.” Did you know that “There are more Endangered Species calling Kern County home than any other county in the continental US?” I sure didn’t.
Ya learn somethin' new everyday...Thanks Mr. Thompson!!
