Bakers Bush

It’s hard to imagine a two-bedroom, one-bath, home on Monterey Street as a Presidential museum, but if Mark Abernathy has his way the one time home of the Bush family will become a children’s library. (That’s because the place is so small there isn’t room for more than one adult at a time. Or maybe it's because W loves picture books. I dunno.)

George Bush, his wife, and a wee, little W, lived in the home for, oh…about three months, during the summer of 1949. One summer was all it took for them pull up stakes and move on. (Wussies.)

Interestingly enough, Papa Bush was a salesman for Dresser Industries at the time. According to the paper, “Dresser was a major oil industry supplier bought by Halliburton in 1998.”

Apparently working for Halliburton is a family tradition.
