Sixty five year old Nora Weber is not a woman to be messed with. Last Tuesday the 90 lb woman shot an intruder four times in effort to fend off his attack.
The story is quite interesting. Nora and her live in friend, Ernest "Butch" Lamson, (who they were careful to point out is NOT romantically involved with Nora) were in her 18th Street insurance office when 31 year old Darren Hailey walked in with what appeared to be a hidden gun. Darren struggled with Butch for awhile, and then he turned his attention to Nora. She had already called 911 and left the receiver off the hook. As Darren began beating the woman’s head against the wall, Butch ran to the back of the house to fetch the gun. When he returned Nora had gotten away from Darren who was now brandishing a butcher knife! (That the? They have to be making this up!) Nora shot at the man as she and Butch made their escape out the front door and screaming for help.
Man, that broad is one tough cookie. According to the paper Nora is quoted as saying, “The next gun I use, it's going to have more than five rounds.”
