The 17 year old neighbor who was present when an 8 year old was shot earlier this week has been arrested. Sheriff’s deputies charged Bill Wilstead with homicide after interviewing him. Danny and his brother Brian were at Wilstead’s house at the time of the shooting.
I feel bad for the Wilstead family. Bill most likely did not mean to kill Danny. I think it was probably an accident. But then again, a 17 year old should know better than to play with guns. But stupidity shouldn’t be a reason to lock up a kid and turn him into a real criminal.
My heart goes out to both families of these children.
