An eight year old boy died Monday when he, his brother, and a friend decided it was a good idea to play with guns. Danny’s 15 year old brother and his 17 year old friend got out the guns while his parents were away and according to the paper they were, “handling them as if they were not loaded.” Danny ended up shot in the head by a .22 caliber rifle. They guns were kept in a locked cabinet and both boys were instructed to not touch the weapons. The older brother had even completed a firearms safety course recently.
Unfortunately, locking up guns, and teaching children firearms safety are not enough to keep curious kids safe.
