For those of you who have no social life whatsoever, I have the event for you this weekend! Beginning today at 4:00 and going through Sunday, the Audubon Society is hosting the 12th annual Kern Valley Turkey Vulture Festival to celebrate the annual migration of the homely birds. (Is there even such thing as a good looking vulture?)
The festival, featuring booths, exhibits, and birding expeditions, will be held at the Audubon California’s Kern River Preserve on the north side of Highway 178, one mile east of Sierra Way in Weldon. Activities last from 4-7 p.m. today; 7-10 tomorrow; and from 7:30- 7 p.m. Sunday, and will include a “Tearing the flesh from a dead carcass” seminar. (okay, I made that last part up.)
Have fun you vulture loving freaks!
