Why?

I am appalled by the way our government is handling the crisis across the gulf coast and most especially in New Orleans. I CAN NOT believe that it has taken SO long to get food and water to the thousands of people waiting to be evacuated. Still, I can’t help but wonder why more is not being done by companies across the nation that have the resources to help. Why hasn’t Walmart come forward to donate food, water, and clothing? Why hasn’t Microsoft sprung into action and offered to help pay for shelter or transportation? Why haven’t the hotel chains offered to provide shelter and food for the displaced? Why is everybody waiting for the government to take care of things?

I am disgusted by the utter lack of compassion I see in the world today.
