According to an article in the local section of today’s Californian, the Bakersfield metropolitan area should reach over a million people in the next 20 years. Unfortunately, most of those people will be dumb. Apparently the locals that do manage to get a decent education tend to move away and those who are not as bright remain behind. This is evident by looking at my best friend and I. She has her PhD and lives in LA and I only have a BS and still live here (insert banjo music here.) But it actually gets worse. Not only are all the smart people leaving, but our community is not creating enough high skilled jobs. Most of the migrants moving into this area are unskilled, uneducated, foreign immigrants.
This explains why I can’t find a decent date.
