The newly formed Citizens for a New Oildale (yes – there really is such a group) is suggesting that a street in Oildale, the place where Haggard grew up, be named for the county music hero instead if ‘S’ street. In a letter to the editor today, Jeannette Gary encourages city planners to consider Wing Way near the new airport terminal. Gary suggests we, “encourage our supervisors to give Oildale the opportunity to honor her own native son in a more appropriate way and to help our entire area as well.”

Makes sense to me.
