Clearly - not a a dump.
In the summer of 2003 folks in Delano (a rural farming community 40 minutes north of Bakersfield) couldn’t help but notice all the trash piling up. Thousands of cubic yards of trash had been deposited there by Los Angeles Waste Industries. Originally collected as part of the curbside recycling program, apparently LA waste officials figured dumping the trash in Delano was the next best thing. But don’t worry – Kern County is on it! LA was ordered to clean up the mess by Nov. 15 2003 or else!! According to the article in today’s August 13, 2004 paper, officials are now starting to think about maybe possibly suing.
Take that LA! You can’t treat us like trash!
