I had a great weekend last week. Friday night my whole family got together to go see my nephew in the STARS production of Grease. He played Doody, one of the T-birds, and he did a great job. I love going to plays – I don’t know why I don’t do it more often.
Saturday my sister and I went shopping for birthday presents for Paul. He’s going to sixteen this Saturday. My birthday is a few days after his, so the whole family got together Saturday afternoon for birthday dinner. My mom made pork chops and I smacked on the meat loudly to annoy my other nephew, the vegetarian. Then I told him there was bacon in the green beans.
After we ate my mom pulled out a gigantic cake she ordered from Costco and I asked her if there was another family that was going to join us cuz that cake was WAY more than we could eat alone. On top of the cake it said “Happy Birthday Bake Town and Pearl.” (Okay – it didn’t really say Bake Town, but it really did say Pearl.) Apparently the cake decorator had trouble reading my mother’s handwriting, and assumed that the carrot cake must be for an 80 year old woman, cuz who else is going to be named Pearl? Anyway, we all had a good laugh over that.
Sunday I went to church and when they started passing around the communion trays I couldn’t help but notice that one of the dudes looked just like Jesus. Just I was leaning over to Paul to point out the Jesus look alike, Paul leaned over to me and said, “That dude looks like Jesus!” I started to giggle. Then I turned towards my mom, and she looked at me and said, “That man looks like Jesus.” I really started to laugh. Then the people in the pew in front of us turned around, smiling, and mouthed to me, “He looks like Jesus!” I nearly lost it at that point.
Turns out Jesus is an undercover cop.
