I thought this was interesting, but maybe that’s just because I recently starting to learn how to crochet. East Bakersfield High School art teacher, Mary Neumann is teaching some of her students the “fiber arts” of knitting and crocheting. The kids knit blankets in her class and then donate the blankets to The Painted Turtle, a camp for children with life threatening illnesses.
The Eye St. section of the paper today has picture of a bunch of kids sitting around knitting, and talking, and looking happy. There are even a couple of dudes.
Awww. I think that’s sweet.
