Dog gon'it

People around here have been freaking out ever the Californian published a picture of a barrel full of dead dogs and cats on the front page. I did not get the paper at the time, so I never saw it, but I heard about it. Everyone was talking about it. The paper was flooded with anger letters, one of which claimed that a little girl saw the picture and was sooooo traumatized she will probably be in therapy for the rest of her life. THE PICTURE was THAT BAD.

The article that accompanied THE PICTURE was about Kern County’s animal overpopulation problem. Seems folks around here don’t want to be responsible for their pets, but they sure as hell don’t want to see a picture of somebody else’s dead dog in the paper. DAMN IT, GET IT STRAIGHT PAPER!!

The animal shelters claim they are over run with unwanted pets because there is a cultural bias in Kern County against fixing male animals! Which means the reason we had to face that grim picture of animal carcasses is because the good ol’ boys around here are more interested in protecting their dog’s nuts than they are about any unplanned pregnancies. It’s important that Duke be able to hump the neighborhood lady’s poodle with out having to worry about the consequences.

I’m keeping my cat inside from now on.
